What is dalgona coffee?
Are you new to dalgona coffee? It may sound intimidating, but it’s pretty simple. Dalgona coffee is a type of beverage made by whipping instant coffee powder, sugar and hot water until it becomes creamy and then adding it to cold or hot milk. Since we do our best in the SLL kitchen to limit using sugar, we found that sugar free drink mixes work as great substitutes.
We tested our whipping skills with a wire whisk, frother and hand mixer to see which worked best. In our opinion, you’ll get the best results with a hand mixer. But if you just want a quick dalgona coffee, a frother will do the trick.
Ingredients
- 2 tsp. Waka instant vanilla flavored coffee
- 1/2 tsp. Margaritaville pina colada drink mix
- 1 cup warm/hot milk
- 1/4 cup hot water
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine together 2 TSP. Waka instant coffee & 1/2 TSP Margaritaville pina colada drink mix in 1/4 cup cold water.
Using a hand whisk, frother or hand mixer, whip coffee mixture to a thick and creamy texture. Approximately 3-5 minutes.
Add 8 oz of warm/hot milk to cup. Spoon whipped coffee mixture over milk.
