We made it through our first 32 days of homeschool. Woohoo! It seemed like the perfect place to take a little brain break. The kids have been doing so well and making such great progress that they earned a few days off. The weather has also been amazing - cooler temps, sunshine and the nicest fall feels. The perfect time for a few days off!
Rogers Academy Fall Break
The kids took full advantage of the days off and spent time with their Granny and Poppie soaking up the beautiful fall weather. Making smores and playing outside in the big back yard were major highlights, but they also enjoyed Granny's famous sweet tea and snacks with Poppie to round out the night. A weekend jam-packed with fun and togetherness was just the change of scenery they needed.
Once back home, they were able to chill and just be kids. We caught up on our favorite Netflix shows and played games. They cooked up a storm with play food and got lost in the world of Barbie. Taking a minute away from lessons, I was able to tend to chores and cleaning, and my husband did some pretty extensive yard work that had been put off. (I'm just guessing that he had to remind himself more than one time it was worth canceling the yard service as he was trimming bushes and cutting trees back.)
Being able to unplug and enjoy some free time was exactly what we all needed. It was like taking a breather five miles into a marathon. We know there's still a long way to go, but oh how that little pick-me-up made a world of difference. The freedom of being able to take this time and use it to relax, renew and recharge is one of the many things I love about homeschool.
We took a rest when needed, refreshed our minds and attitudes, and came back feeling ready to work. Cheers to learning as we go!
